Tuscany road trip 4 days: Itinerary

Tuscany is so big and there are many place to see and 3/4 days are not enough.

For our first experience we decided to stay in the province of Siena. We visited the towns and villages of the Chianti hills and finally Pisa because it was on the way back to Milan.

Do I recommend this itinerary?

Yes, absolutely!!!

The first thing that struck us about Tuscany was the kindness of the people, it is not something taken for granted especially in the very tourist cities.

Second thing .. here you can breathe Art and Culture. Even in the smallest of the villages there is something beautiful to see and discover. The villages are open-air museums.

The third thing was the very characteristic accent even if at the beginning it is a little difficult to understand everything.

USEFUL INFORMATION:

How we arrived:

  • We left from Milan by car (using navigator).

Where we slept:

  • We have chosen as a base point the Agriturismo Il Canneto in Casole d’Elsa. The village is located in a central position, excellent for all the trips we have planned.

Where we ate:

  • Via San Pietro 10, Siena. Se avete voglia di Gelato andate qui. Il loro gelato artigianale è veramente gustoso.
  • Osteria del Borgo di Mensano, Via Ricasoli, 25. Place Mensano – Casole d’Elsa. We found this place by chance and luckily! We tasted the typical dishes of the Tuscan tradition, really good. The owners and the cook are of an incredible kindness and courtesy. Recommended!
  • La Sosta del Priore, Vicolo delle prigioni, 2, Volterra. If you pass by Volterra you can not taste their sandwiches. I recommend trying the one with grilled Tuscan pecorino, caramelized onions and lard. Guys … the end of the world!
  • La Vecchia Latteria, Via San Pietro 10, Siena. If you feel like Ice cream (in italian simply Gelato), go there! Their homemade ice cream is really tasty.

Where to park (save your money with our advice on free or low-cost parking) :
